RDs July 2002
July 9th, I sang the closing number at RD's for the REAL DIVA's CD release party. What an incredible experience it was. Singer after amazing singer got up on stage and wailed. There is so much talent in Toronto.... Leah State, Emilie-Claire Barlow, Jen Ryan, Julie Michaels and many more talented women filled that place with song. It was a great night and I felt glad to be a part of it.

Website Launch
It's August 8th, 2002 and here goes the launch of my website - - Welcome everyone! Visit often to hear about upcoming live appearances, recordings, and anything else newsworthy. Thanks to all my friends and fans and a few people who have declared themselves groupies… tee hee. I love singing for you!

jan 2003 greetings
Greetings and Happy New Year to everone! I am sitting at my computer wondering what exactly to write - a little voice inside my head is poking me saying 'you must say impressive things! - wow them with Big News...'. Well. 2002 has been an amazing, growing year for me, full of firsts. I have continued to gig, as in the past, but this year saw my first (and second and third) self-produced Concert. My first live recording (thank you to Adrean Farrugia, Jim Vivian and William Carne), my first (second, third, etc...) time on the radio (thank you Jazz FM 91.1!), the launch of my first website (thank you Stefan Lehmann and Elizabeth Smart), and many other small firsts... Notice all the thank yous... These events have all been really significant for me but what has been more moving though, is the incredible support I have had from my friends and from the local jazz community. Coming out to clubs, being there for all those angst-filled phonecalls, unfailingly, unceasingly saying 'YES, you're good enough, just get out there and sing already!'. Oy. So I have.

What's coming for 2003? Lots more singing, of course. I'll probably be recording my first 'official' studio album - keep you posted - and I'm putting together a vocal trio that I'm very excited about. Thank you to the clubs - especially Cindy at the Cameron House, and Bob, Tom and everyone at the REX - you ROCK! (or, swing, that is). And with all my heart, thank you to my nearest and dearest - you know who you are - for a great year. Love you all. Best wishes for 2003.

Swing Rosie July 26th
Over the last six months, the previously mentioned Andrews Sisters vocal trio I was working on has been taking shape. Shannon Butcher and Chantelle Wilson have joined forces with me to form SWING ROSIE. We started rehearsing in my basement, doing guest spots in clubs and performing at theatre fundraisers and recently we've performed for the Grand Re-Opening of the Carlu, a couple of corporate events and on Breakfast Television. Last night (July 26/03) - SWING ROSIE ROCKED THE HOUSE at the REX HOTEL. The club was packed and everyone had a roaring good time - especially Shannon, Chantelle and myself! We had Ron Davis on piano, Cheung Liu on bass and William Sperandei on trumpet. We're tickled that everyone is so excited about what we do...because we love the music and love singing in harmony. There will be more news about Swing Rosie in the Kira Callahan pages, so keep an eye out!

September 23rd, 2004 Film Screening
September 23rd, 2004 at 6:30pm, one of the cuts from my Live at Glenn Gould CD will be heard at the Royale theatre on College Street West. The movie is called ALL YOU GOT - a story about a man who has lost sight of what happiness is and where it comes from. Through a hilarious and touching journey he loses all his posessions and comes to many realizations. Produced and directed by new Filmmaker Benjamin Tabah, written by Joe Tuck and scored with 100% Canadian talent. Come to the Royale and support this talented filmmaker - and see if you can spot Kira's voice singing La Vie En Rose during the love scene!

CBC Radio Feature Sunday November 14th
CBC's Mark Rheaume will be visiting with 'Fresh Air's' Jeff Goodes to introduce the music of two new artists to CBC listeners - one of them being little ole me! Tune in between 6:30am-7:30am to enjoy the feature and a couple of cuts from Kira Callahan Live at Glenn Gould Studio.

February 2007 - Recording Project
Hey folks! I have been playing with guitarist Nathan Hiltz quite alot as you may have noticed from the Performances Page, and we play so well together, we have decided to record a duo CD. We'll be in studio this month and have the CD out for a spring release. Stay tuned for more exciting details...

kiracallahan.com website update
Whew! Time to refresh the site. There are a few changes afoot (where did this expression come from anyway?). I am in process of changing CD Distributors so it'll be a couple weeks before you can purchase Kira Callahan Live at Glenn Gould Studio off the site again. Toronto's own wonderful Indie Pool is my new distributor - yay! Also, there will be new information, some new photos and other goodies added to the site in the next six weeks or so. Stay tuned. As always, up-to-date gig information is available on the Performances Page.

New CD Distributor!
The change has been made folks. You can now purchase KIRA CALLAHAN LIVE AT GLENN GOULD STUDIO through the website, courtesy of Indie Pool - just visit the Listen Up page. My upcoming 2007 CD will also be available through a link from the site late this spring. Happy Listening!

New CD Update
Hey everybody! Nathan and I have finished recording, mixing and mastering our CD. It's a wonderful coffee-house feel jazz duo project that we are very proud of. The title THE REAL THING BEGINS has a couple of meanings for me. It's the title of my original song (cut 5) and also the creative space I'm in. I feel more present in my music than ever before. We're now looking for funding to be able to get it manufactured and out into the world. Friends and fans have been sending great ideas and offers of different kinds of support. One cool idea is to pre-sell our CD. I've done this in the past and it's been very helpful. We need to pre-sell 150 CDs to be able to get our first pressing done. I'll be sure to bring a home-grown order form to all my gigs this spring; if you want to support us that's a great way to do it! At $20ea they also make great gifts. I'll be looking into a Post Office box for out-of-town folks. Stay tuned.
